GENERAL INFORMATION

Emmaus will provide food and lodging for the volunteers at the camp. It will also provide accident insurance and transports needed for the activities and the program of the camp.

The other costs, including medical costs or hospitalization for illness are not included. Volunteers will have to cover their own travel costs from and to the city of the camp, as well as any other maintenance costs needed in case of early recision of the camp participation (due to a personal choice or dismissal).

Volunteers will be hosted in the structures of the communities or in other places placed at our disposal by local associations we will be working with.

WHAT TO DO AND TO BRING

Sheets and/or sleeping bag, pillowcases

Towels and the necessary for your personal grooming

Work wear, safety gloves and footwear

Canteen, backpack, cap and any other thing useful to face hot weather and solar exposure 

Necessary money for your personal expenses extra-camp

Anti-tetanus vaccination is strongly recommended

Required documents:

Italian volunteers: ID card and health insurance card

EEC volunteers: ID card, insurance for illness and hospitalization

Volunteers from outside the EEC: Passport, residence permit, insurance for illness and hospitalization 

Note: Emmaus Italia is not able to prepare the documents and to fulfill the guarantees required by the Italian law for visa or residence permit for people extra EEC. Therefore, only extra CEE volunteers with these documents can take part in the camp.

ORGANIZATION OF THE ACTIVITIES

Generally, about 8 hours a day will be devoted to the camp activities and follow-up meetings.

The activity of collection, selection and sale of secondhanded material will be organized as follows:

Advertising by means of leafleting and billposting

Going with the truck to collect the material from the houses by appointment

Selection and arrangement of the collected material

Sale of the material in Emmaus charity shops

In some camps there will be social entertainment activity coordinated by local associations
